Search for a popular Iranian song on an international service and three things tend to happen. It is not there. Or it is there under a different transliteration. Or the only copies are fan uploads with the singer's name spelled three ways. The downloader works around all three.

  • Two scripts. Type the name in Persian (محسن یگانه) or in Latin letters (Mohsen Yeganeh). The catalogues list many Iranian artists both ways, and both are searched.
  • More sources. Besides the Apple Music and Deezer catalogues, YouTube, YouTube Music and SoundCloud, the downloader searches Aparat – Iran's own video platform, where labels and artists often publish first.
  • The same identity checks. A result has to be the song you asked for – singer, title and length – whatever the source. A reaction video, a cover or a karaoke version that happens to name the singer is rejected.

About Aparat as a source

Aparat re-encodes audio per quality level, and the small versions are poor – often 32 kbps mono, which sounds like a phone call. The downloader always takes the highest rendition, which usually carries 128 kbps stereo AAC, and rejects anything thinner. Aparat is ranked below YouTube and Audius for quality, so it is used when it is the only place that has the song, which for Persian music is often.

Recognising Persian songs

Shazam's catalogue is noticeably thinner for Persian music than for Western pop, and no request trick fixes that. So when you send a recording or a video to the bot, it asks several recognition engines at once rather than relying on Shazam alone. See the song finder and find a song from a video.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download Iranian songs here?

Yes. Type the singer and the song's name in Persian or in Latin letters and pick the result. Many Persian songs are found in the international catalogues; for the ones that are not, the search also looks on YouTube, SoundCloud and Aparat.

Why is Aparat searched?

Many Iranian releases – from labels and from the artists themselves – are published on Aparat first or only. Searching it fills the gaps that YouTube and the international stores leave for Persian music.

Is the quality from Aparat good?

Aparat's best renditions carry stereo AAC at about 128 kbps, and the downloader always takes the highest one – lower renditions are often 32 kbps mono, and those are refused. Where a better source such as YouTube or Audius has the same song, that is preferred.

Should I type in Persian or Finglish?

Either. If the first try misses, try the other – catalogues list many Iranian artists in both scripts, and uploads on YouTube or Aparat use whatever the uploader typed.

Can the bot recognise a Persian song from a recording?

Is there Persian lyrics support?

Lyrics come from lyrics databases, whose coverage of Persian songs is thinner than for English. When lyrics exist, the Lyrics button sends them.
