Discovery, one song at a time
Streaming apps bury recommendations in endless auto-generated playlists. This does something smaller and more useful: from the one song you are holding, it suggests up to eight next ones, and each is a button away from being yours.
How the list is built
The song's artist is looked up in Deezer's public music graph, which knows two things that matter here: which tracks by that artist are most played, and which other artists the same listeners play.
- About half of the suggestions are the artist's other most popular songs – the safest bet for "more like this".
- The rest are the biggest song of each of several related artists, one each, so the list opens doors instead of repeating one name.
The song you started from is never suggested back to you, and duplicates are removed.
Following a trail
In Telegram, every suggested song you download arrives with its own Similar button. Tap it and you get the next eight. A few taps take you from one song you know to a handful of artists you did not – and all the songs are already in your chat.
