What this YouTube downloader does
It turns a YouTube link into a video file you own a copy of. You choose the quality, and the downloader fetches the best stream YouTube has at that height, joins the picture and the sound into one MP4, and hands it back to you – on this page as a download link, or in Telegram as a video you can play right in the chat.
Two things make it different from the usual download site:
- You see the size before you download. Each quality button is labelled with its size in megabytes, worked out from YouTube's own format list. A 20-minute video can be about 100 MB at 480p and well over a gigabyte in 4K, and you should know that before you spend the data.
- No re-encoding when it can be avoided. YouTube's top-quality streams are usually AV1 or VP9 video with Opus sound, which an MP4 cannot hold without converting them. At every height where YouTube also has H.264, the downloader takes that instead and copies it without touching it. That is faster and keeps the quality exactly as uploaded.

Choosing a quality
Higher is not always better. As a rough guide for a 10-minute video:

Only qualities the video really has are offered. A video uploaded in 1080p will not grow a fake 4K button that gives you the same 1080p file twice.
