How TikTok downloading works

TikTok links come in many shapes – the short vm. and vt. links from the share sheet, m. links from mobile browsers and the full www.tiktok.com/@user/video/… address. They all point at the same video, and the downloader follows whichever you paste to the video itself.

TikTok only answers requests that look like they come from a real browser, down to the details of how the connection is made. The downloader presents a current Chrome fingerprint to do that. That is also why TikTok support can break for a few hours when TikTok changes something on its side.

About the watermark

When you press Save video in the TikTok app, you get a copy with the TikTok logo and the creator's handle bouncing around it. That is not the only copy. The player on TikTok's website streams a clean version, and it is listed alongside the watermarked one. The downloader ranks the watermarked copy last, so the clean one is taken whenever it exists, with nothing blurred or cropped.

Things to do with a saved TikTok

  • Find the song. Many TikToks are built on a song you want to hear in full. Send the video to the bot and choose Identify the music. See find a song from a video.

  • Keep just a part. Reply to it with 0:05-0:12 and the cutter returns that clip.

Frequently asked questions

Does it remove the TikTok watermark?

It does not paint over anything. TikTok itself keeps two copies of most videos – one with the watermark for saving from the app, and a clean one its player streams – and the downloader takes the clean one whenever TikTok offers it, which is almost always.

Do short TikTok links work?

Yes. The vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com links the Share button makes, m.tiktok.com links and normal www.tiktok.com/@user/video/… links all work.

Can I download a TikTok slideshow (photo mode)?

Not yet. Photo posts are not supported; send the video posts.

How do I get only the sound or the song from a TikTok?

Download the video in the bot, then send it back and choose Identify the music – the bot identifies the song and sends the full track. See find a song from a video.

Can I download private TikToks?

No. Only public videos can be fetched; a private account's videos are visible only to its approved followers.

Why did a TikTok link fail?

The video may have been deleted, set to private, or be unavailable in our server's country. TikTok also changes its site often; if public videos stop working for everyone, the fix is usually on our side within a day.
