Turn any video into a Telegram round video note

Telegram's round video messages can normally only be recorded live with the camera. Send the bot any video – a clip from your gallery, a reel, a Short – and get it back as a real video note – cropped to a circle, the right size, playing in the chat like one you recorded.

How to use it in the Telegram bot

  1. Send or forward a video to @MoeinimyDL_bot.
  2. Under it, tap Video note.
  3. The bot crops the middle of the picture to a square, sizes it, and keeps the first 60 seconds.
  4. The round video note arrives in the chat – forward it to anyone as your own.

The rules Telegram does not tell you

Telegram's sendVideoNote accepts almost any file and then quietly shows it wrong: an oval, a still frame, or nothing. For a video note to actually play as a circle, it has to be:

  • square – width equal to height;
  • 60 seconds or shorter – longer is refused;
  • H.264 video with AAC audio in MP4 – anything else is a file without a player;
  • modestly sized, because it autoplays in the chat.

The converter works out what your video needs and does only that.

What it changes, and what it leaves alone

  • Crop: the largest square from the centre of the frame. A vertical phone video loses a little top and bottom; a landscape one loses the sides.
  • Size: the official clients record at 512 or 384 pixels, so a larger video is brought down to one of those. A smaller one is kept as it is – upscaling only makes a bigger file that looks the same.
  • Length: anything over a minute keeps its first 60 seconds.
  • Audio: already AAC in almost all phone videos, so it is copied untouched.
  • Nothing else: a video that is already square, small, short and H.264 is simply copied.

Frequently asked questions

How do I send a video as a round video message in Telegram?

Telegram only records round videos live from the camera. To turn an existing video into one, send it to the bot and tap Video note – it comes back as a real round message you can forward.

What happens to a landscape or portrait video?

The centre of the picture is cropped to a square – for most phone videos that is where the subject is – and then shown as a circle. Plan your clip so the important part is in the middle.

My video is longer than a minute. What happens?

Telegram does not allow video notes longer than 60 seconds, so the first 60 seconds are kept. To use a different minute, cut it first with the cutter, for example 1:30-2:30, then make the note from that.

Why is the quality lower than my original?

Video notes are small by design – 512 pixels across at most, because they autoplay in chats. The bot never upscales a smaller video, and copies the audio when it can instead of re-encoding it.

Why is this only in the bot?

A video note only exists as a Telegram message, so there is nothing a website could hand you – the bot has to send it.
